Jewelry
what is your jewelry made of and how do I care for it?
Stainless Steel
Most of our pieces are made with stainless steel unless otherwise noted. This is due to its strength, hypoallergenic qualities and durability. Harsh chemicals can affect your jewelry and damage the Chromium Oxide layer that stainless steel develops (this is a protective layer and the reason it does not tarnish). If this layer is damaged, it can cause corrosion and tarnish which is commonly seen as a dull black stain. Please be aware skincare products used in places where jewelry is worn can contain chemicals which may interfere with the material, causing discoloration.
To clean your stainless steel jewelry, use warm water and a small amount of mild dish soap. Ensure you rinse away any remaining soap and dry off with a lint free cloth.
Brass/NuGold
NuGold is a brass alloy that has been specially formulated for jewelry and is also known as "Red Brass," "Merlin's Gold," and "Jeweler's Bronze." It has a rich warm color and if polished resembles gold. NuGold contains 85% copper and 15% zinc with no nickel. It tarnishes considerably slower than copper and is easy to clean. The easiest way to do this is with some warm water and a small amount of mild dish soap. Be sure to rinse away soap afterwards and dry with a lint free cloth.
Pearls and Gems
Some pieces may include semi-precious gems, crystals or pearls. It is recommended that you keep these pieces away from salt and chlorinated water and avoid harsh chemicals due to the delicate nature of these materials.
Metal Alloy
While no metal alloy is used in jewelry that touches skin, some of the charms for our bag/boot chains may be alloy (as noted in the item description). These items should be stored in a dry place and contact with water/oils should be avoided as the piece may dull over time if exposed to too much moisture.
can I customize my order?
Generally, yes! Please reach out beforehand to confirm I can accommodate. Adding/removing length within a couple inches or other small alterations are complimentary.
Candles
what kind of wax do you use?
Candles are handcrafted with 100% Coconut Soy Wax. We use this as it is natural, renewable and biodegradable with a slow and clean burn.
how do I care for my candle?
Tips for the Ensuring the Best Burn
- Always light the entire wick, not just one end. This helps the candle burn evenly from the start.
- If your candle goes out, trim off the burnt tip of the wick before relighting.
- Let the wax melt all the way to the edges during each burn to create a full melt pool.
- Keep candles away from drafts like ceiling fans, air vents, or open windows to avoid uneven burning.
- Never move or touch a lit candle.
- Keep the wick trimmed to ¼ inch. If the flame is taller than 1½ inches or if the candle starts to smoke, extinguish the flame, allow it to cool, and trim the wick before relighting.
- Limit each burn session to a maximum of 4 hours.
- For the first burn, allow the wax to fully melt across the surface. This “break-in” period helps your candle burn cleanly and efficiently for the rest of its life.
Wick Trimming Matters!
Always trim your wick to ¼ inch before each burn. This simple step improves burn time, reduces smoke and soot, and prevents debris from forming on the wax surface.
How to Prevent/Remedy Tunneling
Tunneling happens when a candle burns down the center, leaving unmelted wax around the edges. Here’s how to avoid and fix it:
- The first burn is crucial! Let the wax reach a full melt pool to set the candle’s "memory" and prevent tunneling.
- Avoid burning candles near fans, vents, or breezes that could affect the flame.
- Already tunneling? Create a simple foil cover ("hat") with a small hole at the top. Place it over the container to trap heat and help melt the outer wax. After 15–30 minutes, the wax should level out. Be cautious when removing the foil—it will be hot! Using a candle warmer will also smooth out the candle's top :)
how long do your candles burn?
Assuming proper wick trimming and 3–4 hour burns, our candles should burn for roughly 40 hours.
